Mrs. Daree Waggoner Lum, age 88, died in Meridian,MS. on Monday February 20, 2012 following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3pm Thursday February 23, 2012 from the chapel of Ott & Lee Funeral home in Forest with interment in the Clifton Baptist Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1pm-3pm prior to the service at the funeral home. Rev. Marshall Lum will officiate the services.
Mrs. Lum was a native and lifelong resident of Scott County. She was member of Hillsboro Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. She was a longtime member of the Eastern Star and was the Director of Nursing at the Scott County Hospital in Morton for over 30 years. She did her nurses training at Mattie Hersee Hospital in Meridian. Her first nursing assignment was at the Queens Hospital in Oahu, HI. While in Oahu, she married her husband. She also worked for Mississippi Ho me Healthcare for many years.
Mrs. Lum was preceded in death by her husband, K.B. Lum, four brothers, Curtis, Barney, Howard and Sollie.
Her survivors include three children; Dr. Rita Lum Wood (John) of Meridian, Donald K. Lum (Genevieve) of Clinton, LA, and Jimmy G. Lum of Gautier,MS. a
Brother-in-law W.E. Lum (Helen) of Jackson, and three grandchildren, Elizabeth Lum, Lauren Lum and Daniel Lum. She also leaves behind three step-grandchildren, Hank Kratt, Dr. Charlotte Kratt Dean, and John Kratt.
