Darlan Phillips, 67, a resident of Morton died Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at home. Funeral services were held 2 pm Friday, October 15, 2010 at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Morton with burial in the Lodebar Cemetery. Visitation was held 5-9 pm Thursday and 8 am-1:45 pm at the funeral home. Dr. Kevin Cooper and Rev. Paul Smith officiated the services. Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Morton was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Phillips was a native of Morton. He was the son of Burley and Bessie Phillips. He was married to Tommie Goodman Phillips. He was a 1961 graduate of Morton High School and attended East Central Community College at Decatur. He worked in retail sales business for many years. He owned and operated Phillips Farm and Garden, Inc. at Morton for many years prior to retiring. Mr. Phillips loved his family very much and spending time with them brought great joy to his life. He will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.
Mr. Phillips was preceded in death by his parents, Burley and Bessie Phillips, sisters, Vertis Stegall and Jo McCaughn and brothers, J.B. Phillips and Roy Phillips.
Mr. Phillips is survived by his wife, Tommie Goodman Phillips of Morton; sons, Jody Phillips of Morton, Chris (Tammie) Phillips of Morton and Eric (Anna) Phillips of Brandon; brother, Freddy (Jackie) Phillips of Oklahoma City, OK; sister-in-law, Bea Phillips of Morton; brother-in-law, Edward McCaughn of Morton; grandchildren, Walker, Joshua and Sydney Phillips all of Morton and Anna Grace Corcoran of Brandon; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Pallbearers were Wendell McCaughn, Terry Phillips, Tyler McCaughn, Keith Beatty, Jeremy Ingram, Mark Torrence and Justin Martin.
