VISIT 1 PM SUNDAY
David K. Boyd, Sr., 80, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 15, 2012 after a long courageous fight with cancer. Visitation is 1 – 2:30 pm Sunday, May 20, 2012 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon.
Services are 2:30 pm from the Chapel of Ott & Lee Funeral Home.
David Kemp Boyd was born on July 30, 1931 in Dothan Alabama to the late Hansel Weed and Ruby Lee Barton Boyd. He was a graduate of Starkville High School, Starkville, MS and attended Mississippi State University. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and later served in the National Guard. He was a small business Owner, retiring from Micro Electronics. He was an avid sports fan of the Mississippi State Bulldogs and the Atlanta Braves.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, H. W. Boyd, Jr.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Barbara Lemmons Boyd of Pearl, MS; two children, Deborah Boyd Staten and husband, James of Pearl, MS and David K. Boyd, Jr. and wife, Julia Mann Boyd of Thousand Oaks, California; two sisters, Patsy Johnson of Orlando, FL and Judy Shows of Memphis, TN; six grandchildren, Chrissy McCoy, Robby Staten, Katie Stafford, Haley Boyd, Cody Staten, and Austin Boyd; and six great grandchildren.
