Mr. David Houston Jones, age 69, a resident of Cooperville passed away on Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at his residence. His visitation was held 5pm-until Thursday, July 12, 2012 at the Cooperville Baptist Church. Services were held 2pm Friday, July 13, 2012 from the Cooperville Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Bro. Robert Gatewood and Bro. Scotty Cooper officiated the services. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Ott & Lee Funeral Home of Morton.
Mr. Jones was born in Simpson County in 1943. He loved to be in the serenity of nature hunting and fishing. As long as he was helping somebody he was happy in life. David loved his family very much and will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents Obie S. Jones and Fannie Mae McWilliams Jones; 4 sisters, Rachel Chain, Dorothy Harrell, Lili Re Jones and Faye Craven; 3 brothers, Otha Ray Jones, Oler Jay Jones and Bill Jones.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Hill Jones; son, John David Jones (Debbie) of Morton, Penny Davis (Earnie) of Cooperville; sister, Sarah Runnels or Mt. Olive; brother, Lee Jones (Linda) of Cooperville; 8 grandchildren, Brandon, Jones, Oby Jones, Ryan Jones, Kendel Allen, David Tatum, Melissa Tatum (Henry), Kim Tatum and Aiden Davis; great grandchild, Taylor Goss; special friend, George Jerrnigan; many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Pallbearers were Brandon Jones, Oby Jones, Ryan Jones, Kendel Allen, David Tatum, and Vance Goolsby. Honorary pallbearers were Henry Cumberland and Jeff Thornton.
Memorials may be made in his honor to the American Diabetes Association.
