David Smith

David  Smith age 61  and his wife Diane Smith age 64, residents of Lake, MS died on Sunday January 20, 2019 at home.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2pm Sunday January 27, 2019 from the chapel of the Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Forest.  Bro. Robert Hallman will officiate the services. Graveside services will not be held, the family will remain  after the service to visit with friends.  Visitation will be held  from 5pm to 8pm Saturday January 26, 2019.   Final resting place is the Smith Sunset Hill Cemetery in Lake.

David was born on July 28, 1957  in Yazoo City, MS  to his parents Arlis E. Smith and Ruth Lee Smith.  He had retired  from Peavey Electronics.  David  had an infectious sense of humor.  His wit and ability to never meet a stranger was evident as he enjoyed  life to the fullest.  He loved electronics and computers.  Most of all he loved his family and spending time with them. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He  married Cynthia Diane Smith.  Diane was born on March 2, 1954 in Odessa, FL to her parents Joseph Deal and Helen Boozer Deal  Diane also loved life, she loved her family and visiting with friends. She had  retired from Wal-Mart.  He and Diane  were members  of   Hopewell Baptist Church.  She will also be greatly missed by her loving family and her many friends.

David and Diane were preceded in death by their parents.  David is also preceded in death by  a brother: Gary Lee Smith.  Diane is also preceded in death by a sister: Gail Liles.

They  leave behind 3 children: Daniel Smith of Newton,  Cassandra Gay (Joseph) of Lake and Christopher Smith of Meridian.  Other survivors include  Diane’s 2 sisters: Sherrill Deal of Forest and Janice Gilmore of Sebastopol.  David’s sister Patsy Guess (Davie) of Union and sister-in-law: Annette Smith of Lawrence.  They also leave a legacy of 5 grandchildren: Zachary Gay, Stephen Smith, Nicholas Gay, Joseph Cody Gay and Sabrina Gay.

Pallbearers are Cody Gay, Chad Burns, Jimmy Breland, Eric Gordy, Chris Pace, Anthony Burns, Raymond McCollom, Kevin McCollom, Tim Sarrett, T. J Lacharite, Robby Alexander and Robert Applewhite.  Honorary pallbearers are Kenny Myatt, James Moulds and Matthew McCollom.
