Funeral services for Mr. David E. Park will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Monday, October 30, 2017 from the Ott & Lee Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Brian Rushing officiating. Interment will follow in the Hillsboro Baptist Cemetery under the direction of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Forest.
Visitation will be from 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm on Sunday, October 29, 2017 at the funeral home and on Monday one hour prior to the funeral service.
David E. Park was born on Thursday, January 20, 1938 at the family home at Forest, and passed away on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at the Regency Hospital in Meridian at the age of 79.
A native of Scott County, Mr. Park was a retired postmaster and very active in his community. He was a proud longstanding member of the Lions Club, Inc., holding recent membership with the Lake-Lawrence Lions Club. He was also a HAM radio operator and affiliated with the MARRS Organization. An accomplished electrician and carpenter, Mr. Park was proud of the fact that he remodeled the home where he lived. In his service to the church over the years, he served as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, and enjoyed participation in the Adult and Senior Adult Choirs. He was currently an active member of First Baptist Church in Newton. He will be remembered for the love he had for his family, particularly his grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Ulric Zauner and Willie Estelle Holt Park and one brother: Joe Park.
Survivors include his wife of over 56 years: Mrs. Betty M. Park of Lawrence; one daughter: Kay (Cliff) Smiley of Oxford; one son: Ron Park of Lawrence; four grandchildren: Esmee Smiley, Raul Smiley, Erika Smiley and Kyle Smiley; one brother: James (Martha) Park of Forest; and two sisters: Sue (Virgil) Jones of Forest and Mary Thompson of Lake; several nieces and nephews.
