David W. Webb Jr., 90, beloved husband of Mary Louise Webb, died Tues. April 13, 2010 at his home in Brandon. He was born in Pittsburg, Kansas, September 28, 1919. At an early age, he moved to Chanute, Kansas with the family and then on to Louisville, Nebraska at the age of eight, when his father was transferred there with the Ash Grove Lime & Portland Cement Co. He attended the Louisville schools, and graduated from the Louisville High School as Valedictorian of his class. He was active in the band playing clarinet, and enjoyed sports, earning letters in baseball and basketball.

Mr. Webb went on to the University of Nebraska on a scholarship, and graduated with a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering. Here again he was active with the marching and concert bands, including a trip to the Nebraska/Stanford Rose Bowl in January 1941. He also received an ROTC commission as a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and was ordered to active duty in June, 1941 to the Engineer School at Fort Belvoir, Virginia. He served overseas in Panama, then transferred to Richmond, Virginia Army Air Base where he married Mary Louise (Burtch) Webb, before embarking to North Africa, and on to Italy during his tour of duty, with the military occupational specialty of Airport Engineer, and achieved the rank of Major. His citations included the Bronze Star Medal for Meritorious Achievement along with several Theatre Ribbons.

Upon returning to the U.S. he completed his education and was employed by the Allis-Chalmers Mfg Co. and merged Siemens-Allis, and Siemens Energy & Automation Companies in Milwaukee, WI., Boston, MA., and Jackson, MS. with various managerial assignments primarily in the Marketing field, in the manufacture and sale of high voltage, high power electrical equipment. Mr. Webb was a licensed engineer in the state of Wisconsin. He retired in 1981 in Brandon. The couple celebrated 67 years of marriage, having married on August 20, 1942. His hobbies included amateur radio, RV traveling, and staying active with computing technologies. Mr. Webb was a long time member of the Brandon First United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Mary L. Webb of Brandon; his daughter, Eleanore Webb of Marietta, GA.; his son, David Webb III of Sun Prairie, WI.; six grandchildren, Holly Sarver, Peter Abrahamson, David Webb IV and his wife Jessica, Steven Webb, Erin Webb, Lisa Webb and one great-grandson, Gavin Sarver. Also surviving are one sister, Betty McEvoy of North Platte, NE. and one brother, Olin Webb of Denver, CO.

Graveside Services are 10am. Sat. April 17, 2010 at Brandon Memorial Gardens with Rev. Kelly Pope officiating the service. There will be no visitation In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Brandon First United Methodist Church or the Salvation Army.
