Davis Sistrunk, age 73, passed from this life August 4, 2013 to be with his Heavenly Father and to join his sweet grandson, Cristian Sistrunk along with other friends and family before him. He has lived in the Brandon area since 1965. Services are 1 pm Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon with burial in Brandon Memorial Gardens. Davis is best remembered for his gentle spirit and helping nature. He was a Prince of a Gentleman. His legacy is evident by all that received grace through his acts of kindness from his helping hands. God granted him the “gift of helps”. Only time and eternity will reveal all that he touched. Davis’ mission was carried out quietly, without pay or praise.
Davis was a member of Brandon Baptist Church and Milton Baxter Sunday School class.
Many knew Davis through his postal work of 30 years in Rankin County. His need to keep busy was met by working part time after his retirement from postal work. All of Davis’ jobs afforded him the opportunity to build lasting relationships and endear many friends.
He has been preceded in death by his parents James Sistrunk and Era Martin; brother, Junior Sistrunk; sister, Rosie Allen; and grandchild, Cristian Sistrunk.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Peggy Rutledge Sistrunk; daughter, Nancy (Terry) Germany; son, Mark (Heather) Sistrunk; son, Michael Sistrunk; daughter, Cynthia (Mike) Norsworthy; 3 grandsons, Kyle Sistrunk, Lake Norsworthy, and Finn Norsworthy; brother, Doyle Sistrunk; sister, Ruth Caldwell; sister, Loretta Garver; and sister, Gracie Puckett; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
