Deloris Goss Monk, age 75, passed away Friday, November 18, 2016, at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland following an extended illness.
Funeral services were conducted at 11am Monday November 21, 2016, at the chapel of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Forest with interment in the Ridge Baptist Cemetery. Visitation was held from 5pm-8pm Sunday, November 20, 2016. Rev. Joe Smith and Rev. Bob Smith officiated.
Mrs. Monk was born in Scott County on Monday March 17, 1941 to her parents; L.C. Goss and Mildred Knowles Goss. She was a member of Ridge Baptist Church. Prior to her retirement in 200, she was employed for many years at the Gove Factory in Walnut Grove. She was a loving mother and grandmother. Her kindness will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister: Violet Culpepper and a daughter; Nez Moore.
Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Herman Monk, Sr., two children; Kaye M. Myers and Herman Monk, Jr (Angie) all Forest. She is also survived by one brother; Othenel Goss (Terry) of Brandon and a legacy of 7 grandchildren: Amy McCrory of Morton, John “Boo” Bray of Forest, Kevin Bray of Forest, Jessica Walker Myers of Lake, Catlin Myers of Forest, Heather Monk Benton of Forest, Colton Monk of Forest and a host of great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Kevin Bray, Steve Benton Catlin Myers Steven McCrory, Ethan Walker, Tyler Bray, John “Boo” Bray, Dusty Bray and Jeremy McCrory.
