Dennis Clyde Roberson, 69, passed away on Friday, October 29, 2021, at University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, MS.  Visitation will be 3:30pm – 5:00pm Monday, November 1, 2021, at Ott & Lee Funeral Home with the service to follow in the chapel of the funeral home at 5:00pm.

Dennis was born in Springhill, LA, on Oct. 20, 1952, to Carl C Roberson and Maxine Miller Roberson.  He joined the U.S. Navy and entered bootcamp in Orlando, Fl on October 28, 1980.  He received his Boiler Technician credentials while in the Navy.  After his school of Boiler Technician Third class (BT3), he then headed to his first duty station in Mayport, FL. There he was attached to the USS Voge (FF 1047) which was a Frigate class ship.

After the USS Voge, he was stationed on the USS Sampson (DDG 10) which was a Destroyer class and then the USS Ponce (LPD 15) which was an amphibious assault ship; both ships were in Norfolk, VA. He also spent two tours on recruiting duty in Jackson, MS during his time in the Navy.   During his time on sea duty, he deployed numerous times to the Persian Gulf and Mediterranean Sea.

He completed his service and retired after 20 years in October 2000 as a Chief Petty Officer.

He is survived by his children, Lisa Hall, David (Kelly) Roberson, Brandon (Aubrey) Roberson, Carman Payne and Claudia Hernandez; brother, Eddie Roberson; 7 grandchildren, Jason Purvis, Emily P. Gay, David Roberson, Daryann Roberson, Lily-Ann Roberson, Madelynn Roberson, Jessica Fulton; 10 great grandchildren.  H was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Barbara Ann Roberson and second wife, Judith Roberson; sisters, Barbara Lee and Betty Tonnang.
