Despina H. “Desi” Riggs, 80, passed away on Thursday, October 22, 2015, at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland. Visitation will be 1:30 – 3:45pm Saturday, October 24, 2015, at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS. The service will be 4pm Saturday in the chapel. Interment will follow in Fannin Baptist Cemetery.
Despina was born in Germany on February 2, 1935 to Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Doukas. She moved to the United States 54 years ago, and was very proud to become a United States Citizen.
Mrs. Riggs was a former member of Parkway Baptist Church where she loved to sing in the choir and was a member of Pinelake Church. Mrs. Riggs loved her Lord and Savior, and was very involved with outreach ministries.
Survivors include her daughters: Tina H. Jackson (Steve) of Brandon and Leslie R. McGuffee (Durwood, Jr.) of Brandon; 5 grandchildren, Jamie Jackson, Justin Jackson(Jodi), Jade Jackson, Dylan McGuffee and Ashlan McGuffee.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
