Dewey Madison, age 88, a resident of the Kalem Community passed away on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at the MS. State Veterans Home in Kosciusko. Visitation was held 5-8pm Thursday, October 15, 2015 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton. Funeral services were held 10am Friday, October 16, 2015 at the Ott & Lee Chapel in Morton with burial in the Kalem United Methodist Cemetery. Bro. Creighton White and Bro. Scott Adcox officiated the services. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton.
Mr. Madison was born in Scott County on January 23, 1927. He proudly served in the United States Navy and was a WW II Veteran. Dewey loved attending the Kalem United Methodist Church and singing in the choir. He was proud to tell people that he lived in the Kalem Community. Dewey loved working in his garden and raising vegetables. He loved his family very much and will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.
He is preceded in death by his father, Charles Fredrick Madison; mother, Lou Ella Herring Madison; wife, Betty Louise Perritt Madison; 2 sisters, Sue Shaffer and Lula Bell Burkes; 5 brothers, George, Nelson, William Oliver, Thomas Elvin and Capers Madison.
He is survived by his children, Dwayne Madison from the Kalem Community and Farrell Madison (Ann) of Morton; sister, Elladean Randall; 2 grandchildren, Daniel Ryan Madison (Leslie) and Angela Bilbro (Greg); 4 great grandchildren, Macey Grace Madison, Gabrielle Faith Madison, Dean Walker Madison and Austin Darvil Bilbro; a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Pallbearers were Greg Bilbro, Mark Measells, Jimmy Perritt, Terrell Harvey, Kenny Stephens and James Perritt. Honorary pallbearers were Austin Bilbro and Dean Walker Madison.
Memorials may be made in his honor to the Kalem United Methodist Church.
