Dewey Lamar Weems, 84, went home to be with his heavenly Father on Friday, March 25, 2016 at St. Dominic/Jackson Memorial Hospital in Jackson, MS. Visitation will be Monday, March 28, 2016 from 5 until 8 pm at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS and again Tuesday, March 29, 2016 from 9 am until the 10 am Funeral Service at Brandon Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Florence Cemetery, Florence, MS.
Dewey Lamar Weems was born on September 11, 1931 in Lena, MS to the late Dewey Douglas and Mary Wrennie Pigg Weems. He was a graduate of Florence High School and later joined the U. S. Army. He was sworn in as a State Trooper on November 1, 1957. His long and distinguished career included uniform patrolman, criminal investigator, assistant director of the identification bureau, chief polygraph examiner, personnel officer, director of statistics, director of criminal records, and director of administrative division of criminal investigation bureau. He retired from the Patrol on January 31, 1988 as Captain, after more than 31 years of service.
He was a longtime resident of Rankin County, MS. and was a faithful member of Brandon Baptist Church. He was a sweet, loving man who believed in honesty.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Patricia Pierce Weems and his son, Joel Weems both of Brandon, MS.
