Donald R. McDonald, 74, passed away Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at Miss. Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. Visitation is 5-8 pm Friday at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon. Services are 2 pm Saturday, May 31, 2014 at St. Paul Catholic Church in Flowood with burial in Lakeland Place Garden Park Cemetery in Flowood.
Mr. McDonald was a native of Illinois and a longtime resident of Rankin County. He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church. Mr. McDonald retired as a Commander with US Navy having served in Vietnam and Northern Ireland. He was a graduate of the University of Illinois where he was a member of the Phi Kappa Sigma and also graduated with an advanced degree from the University of Missouri. Mr. McDonald retired as a Finance Director with the Miss. Farm Credit Bank and later worked at the Hercules Credit Union in Hattiesburg.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Helene McDonald of Brandon; daughters, Deirdre Mooney (Roger) of Hattiesburg and Kerry Miller (Jason) of Brandon; granddaughters, Ella Grace Miller and Chloe Anne Miller; sisters, Floetta Satterfield of Perryville, Missouri and Laurella Schwent of Perryville, Missouri, Cynthia Gimber of Ellis Grove, Illinois; brother, Leland McDonald of Imperial, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Florence McDonald; sisters, Carol Fisher and Linda McDonald; brothers, Wayne and Glen McDonald.
