Donald Steve Turner born September 12, 1943, and passed away February 3, 2025. Don was born to parents Stephen Harvey Turner and Thelma Corley Turner and grew up in Richland Mississippi attending schools and church there. He graduated from Florence High School in 1962. He graduated from Mississippi State University in 1966 with a degree in electrical engineering. It was there that he met his wife, Sheila Anne Reynolds Turner. He remained an avid Mississippi State fan his whole life. Upon graduation, he was employed by Mississippi Power and Light Company, now Entergy, working there as an engineer and customer service manager until his retirement at age 66. He enjoyed spending time with his wife and children Jeffrey Michael Turner and Lindsay Meredith Turner-Blount, vacationing with them in the mountains and on the Gulf of Mexico Beaches. He also enjoyed coaching baseball for Jeff and softball for Lindsay. He enjoyed playing tennis and was a dedicated runner.
He passed away peacefully at home on Monday, February 3 at 10:30 in the morning. Family and friends remember him as hard-working, likable and kind to everyone he met. He will be missed by his wife and children, and their spouses Daniel Blount and Lindsey Somos, his sister Jo Evelyn Turner Winans, and many coworkers, neighbors and friends. The interment will be at Lakeland Place Memorial Park in Brandon after a short prayer service at 3 PM on Thursday, February 6, 2025.
