Doris Jean Butler

Doris Jean Gilmore Butler, 96, passed away Tues. Nov. 17, 2020 at the Mississippi Care Center in Raleigh, MS. Visitation was held on Fri. Nov. 20, 2020 from 11:30am-12:45pm at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS. Funeral Services were 1pm on Fri. Nov. 20, 2020 at the Ott & Lee Funeral Home Chapel in Brandon, MS. Graveside Services were held at 3pm on Fri. Nov. 20, 2020 at the Sardis Baptist Cemetery in Smith County, MS. Rev. John Adcock officiated the services. Honorary Pallbearers were Eric May, Danny Cook, Dan Yates, Bartley Adcock, Dwight Burnham, Jerry Powell Stanley Gibson, Prentiss Adcock, Tony Duckworth, Larry Thompson and Buddy Vanderford.

Mrs. Butler was born in Gulde, MS on March 4, 1924 to the late Oliver Lawrence Gilmore and Mary Emma Robbins Gilmore.  She loved working in her yard, especially with her flowers and enjoyed quilting, sewing and cooking.

She is survived by her son, Carlos Gilber; sister, Linda Gilmore Cuevas and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Butler is also preceded in death by her husband, Archie Gilbert Butler; her twin brother, Douglas Fairbanks Gilmore and her sisters, Hazel Gibson, Marilyn Walley and Bettie Rae Gilmore.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Home Care Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
