Dorothy Jean Beatty, 77, a resident of Polkville died Friday, December 12, 2014 at the Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, MS. Funeral services were held at 2 pm Sunday, December 14,2014 at the Polkville United Pentecostal Church with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation was held from 5 pm until 9 pm Saturday and from 12 pm until 2 pm Sunday at the church. Rev. Barron Price, Rev. Jeremy Price, Rev. Mark Herrington, Rev. Jonathan Soden, Pastor Scott Webber and Rev. Alburn Beatty officiated the services. Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Morton was in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Beatty was a native of Smith County. She was the daughter of Pascal West Huff and Mildred Gertrude Hudson Huff. She was married to Vernon Beatty of Polkville. She was a member of the Polkville United Pentecostal Church. She loved her church and church family. She enjoyed gardening, traveling and listening to Bluegrass Gospel Music. She loved her family very much and spending time with them brought great joy to her life. She will be missed by all who loved and knew her.
Mrs. Beatty was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Beatty; parents, Pascal West Huff and Mildred Gertrude Hudson Huff; brothers, Johnny Ray, Elzie, Jerry and Jimmy Huff and daughter in law, Kay Beatty.
Mrs. Beatty is survived by her children, Alburn Beatty, Penny (Rayburn) Hines and Tommy (Pam) Beatty; sisters, Nellie Ray Traxler McDonald, Fletta (Jimmy) Phillips and Annette (Oscar) Tadlock; brother, Leslie (Rosie) Huff; brother in law, Lester Beatty; sisters in law, Shirley Beatty and Francis Phillips; granddaughter, Kaylace Andrell Beatty; many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
