Dorothy (Dot) Dollar went peacefully in her sleep to be with her Lord and Savior on July 31, 2016 in Birmingham, AL. A native of Union, Mississippi, Dot graduated from Stratton High School and lived most of her 81 years in Gulfport, Mississippi and Brandon, Mississippi. She was an active traveler, having been to 85 countries and six continents. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She was a Christian and an active member of Crossgates Baptist Church in Brandon.
She is survived by Bennie Dollar, her husband of 63 years; three sons, Dennis (Janie) Dollar of Birmingham, Alabama; Craig (Theresa) Dollar of Hattiesburg, MS; and Kent (Lisa) Dollar of Cookeville, Tennessee. She has six special grandchildren, Chris (Sally) Dollar, Lindsay (David) Moryoussef, Jessica (Chris) Coulter, Callie Dollar, Rachel Dollar and Hannah Dollar; and seven wonderful great-grandchildren, Luke Dollar, Jacob Moryoussef, Anna Dollar, Emmett Moryoussef, Mack Coulter, Maggie Dollar and Annie Lauren Coulter; and countless relatives, friends and travel companions.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elvin and Thelma Sharp of Union, Mississippi.
Services will be at Ott and Lee Funeral Home at 1360 West Government Street in Brandon, Mississippi at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 3. Friends may visit with the family from 9:30-11:30 prior to the service. Burial will be 3 pm Wednesday in Pinckney Baptist Church cemetery in Union, Mississippi.
