Dorothy May Gilmer Holyfield, 85, passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2021 at Merit Health River Oaks in Flowood, MS. Visitation will be 5-7pm Tuesday, January 19, 2021, at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS. Graveside services will be 11am at Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Pearl, MS.
Dorothy was born in Neshoba County, MS, to Tom McLemore and Fannie Pearl Sistrunk McLemore. She retired from Sunflower Grocery Store after many years of service and was very dedicated and loyal to her career. She was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved to work out in her yard and garden. Dot was very headstrong, and you never had to wonder what was on her mind.
Survivors include her husband, Richard Holyfield; sons, Anthony Dale (Frieda) Gilmer, Billy Pat (Glenda) Gilmer, Huey Michael (Linda) Gilmer, and James Robert Gilmer; she was taken in and loved by Richard’s children, Rick Holyfield, Sherrye Ellzy, Jan Mills and Barbe Elmore; siblings, J.T. McLemore, Mildred McElhenney, Margaret McElhenney, Helen Rollins, and Jean Blackwell; grandchildren, Tony Gilmer, Tracy Gilmer, Brandy Gilmer, Nikki Gilmer, Christy Harreld and Glenda Gilmer; great-grandchildren, Dakota McManus, Raelyn Gilmer, Maddox Gilmer, Arrington Harreld, Kylie Gilmer, Makenzie Gilmer, Slade Gilmer and Olivia Gilmer.
