Mrs. Dorothy Kelly

May 11, 1931 – April 6, 2020

Mrs. Kelly, 88, of Bay Springs, formerly of Brookhaven and Raleigh, went to be with her Lord on  April 6, 2020 .  She was born May 11, 1931, to her parents, Walter Thellis Traxler and Mayola Dobbs Traxler.  She could be described as a caregiver who loved and cared for people.  First, she helped take care of eight younger siblings while living at home.  After her marriage to her dear husband, Kimble Davison Kelly, she cared for him and their three children.  As her life continued, because of her great love for children, she cared for many in her home and became known as “Mama Dot”; and in her later years, she cared for elderly ladies in their homes. She had a great faith in her Lord Jesus Christ and enjoyed sharing it with others. She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, her parents, three sisters and four brothers.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Bobby Kelly; daughters Dottie Lawson (Donny); Mandy Jones (Charlie); brother, Jimmy Traxler; sister, Peggy Harrell, and special sister-in-law, Barbara Traxler.  She is also survived by six grandchildren, Kelly Dollar (Trace), Amanda McCurley (Quentin), Maria Sims (Shannon), Betty Scruggs (Drew), Arlena Smith (Matt), John Kelly; and ten great grandchildren.
