Dorothy JoAnn Smith, also known as Miss Ann, passed away April 29, 2012 due to complications from a stroke in 2008. She was 81 years old and born on November 18, 1930 in Summerville, MS to O.B. and Hannah Gilbert.
Visitation will be held Tues. May 1, 2012 from 5pm.-7pm. and Wed. May 2, 2012 from 10am.-10:45am. at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS. Funeral Services are 11am. Wed. May 2, 2012 at the funeral home with burial to follow in the Lakewood Memorial Park in Jackson, MS.
Miss Ann was married to W.C. (Smitty) Smith, Jr. for 54 years, who passed away in September 2001. She said many times it was the best years of her life being married to him and raising a family together. As parents and friends they were “the best” life has to offer.
She has always been a faithful and loyal wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend to everyone that had the honor of knowing her. She dedicated every minute of her life helping her family and friends. She was always there when anyone needed her.
Miss Dorothy JoAnn Smith was always heard throughout her life saying “I wish everyone would just get along and enjoy each other.”
She is survived by her two children, son- W.C. (Willie) Smith and Daughter- Libby Wimberley; five grandchildren, Angie Bailey, Paul Yates, Jonathan Smith, Danny Wimberley, Jr. and Jonathan Wimberley; four great-grandchildren, Ashlyn Bailey, Haydon Bailey, Riley Wimberley and Savannah Grace Hendricks and her brother, Al Gilbert. She is also preceded in death by a brother, Jim Gilbert.
