Edwin Doyle Brantley, age 90, known to all as Doyle, ended his lifelong journey on May 23, 2018. He was a member of the greatest generation, upon whose watch our Country grew into the greatest nation the world has known. Doyle grew up in Madden Mississippi along with eight brothers and sisters. His parents were Dr. Frank and Mrs. Clennie Brantley. Doyle attended Southern Mississippi, Millsap’s, and graduated from the University of Mississippi. Doyle answered the call of his country and served in the U.S. Army in World War II as well as the Korean Conflict. After the war, Doyle met his lifelong soul mate, Frances Haralson, known to all as “Pamp”, and spent the remainder of his life with her. Together they reared three children, Gary Jones (Edwina Jones), Paula Lee (Roy Noble Lee, Jr.), and Linda Walton (Ricky Walton). He was the proud patriarch of his family, having six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Hard work was always a part of Doyle’s life. He, along with Pamp, built a successful poultry and wood shavings business. Fishing was his passion, and countless days were spent on the Ross Barnett Reservoir and his private lake with friends and family. He took his family on many outstanding trips and vacations. Family fish frys and gatherings were numerous and often. The glow of love and contentment was ever present when he was surrounded by his family.
Visitation and celebration of Doyle’s life will be conducted at Ott & Lee, Forest, Mississippi, with visitation at the Chapel commencing on Friday, May 25, 2018, at 12:00 p.m. with the funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m. Rev.
