Dr. Donald "Big Red" Nerren

Bro. Don Nerren ,71, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at his home. He was born on July 17, 1944 in Birmingham, AL to the late George and Idelette Nerren.

Don was a pastor for over 40 years including New Zion Baptist Church in Braxton, MS and Robinhood Baptist Church in Brandon, MS. He served as a drug and alcohol counselor and chaplain of Baptist Chemical Dependency Center and Hospital for 19 years. He also served as Chaplain of Trace Pointe Assisted Living Facility.

During his years of ministry, Don touched the lives of many people. He loved God, his family, and his dogs.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Linda; his son Josh; his daughter, April (Chris) Sanchez; and granddaughter, Ashley Sanchez.

Visitation will be held Thursday, October 1, 2015 from 5 until 8 pm at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS and again Friday, October 2, 2015 from 2 pm until the 3 pm Service at New Zion Baptist Church. Burial will follow in New Zion Baptist Church Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Harbor House, Chemical Dependency Services, 5354 I-55 South Frontage Road, Jackson, MS 39272.
