VISITATION: 9 AM FRIDAY UNTIL SERVICE IN TRINITY HALL AT FOREST BAPTIST CHURCH

Dr. W. Kermit Reynolds was born September 1, 1924, in the rural community of Damascus, Mississippi. At the age of six, his family moved to Harperville, Mississippi.

From childhood on, Kermit demonstrated a strong work ethic. He worked long and hard on the family farm, where they raised cattle, grew cotton, and raised vegetables for family’s needs. One job that he recalled with pride was the daily delivery of milk on his bicycle for which he earned 25 cents a month. He was very conscientious about his deliveries as he did not want to lose his job to his younger brother. Upon, graduating from Harperville High School, Dr. Reynolds began his higher education at Mississippi State University. He served his country during WWII by enlisting in the Air Force as part of the Air Transport Command. After graduation from Mississippi State, he was accepted into Baylor School of Dentistry in Dallas, Texas, where he graduated second in his class in 1951.

While attending Baylor School of Dentistry he met a young nurse, Vernoy Bott and pursued her with the same diligence and they were married on December 21, 1950. After graduation, they returned to Mississippi to begin the practice of dentistry in Forest.

Dr. Reynolds has served Jesus and the church and community in numerous capacities as President of the Forest Rotary Club, President of the Forest Chamber of Commerce, President of the Forest Housing Authority for twenty-five years, Chairman of Council of Deacons of Forest Baptist Church, and selected by the Forest Chamber of Commerce to be “Citizens of the Year” and served as Grand Marshals of the Christmas Parade.

Dr. Reynolds enjoyed many volunteer dental mission trips to Kenya, Peru, Honduras, Brazil, and St. Vincent Island.

Kermit considered his family to be his greatest blessing. His secret to a successful life was faith in God and hard work. He was a child of God. He was just a forgiven sinner saved by God’s grace.
