Dr. Paul Brown Long, PhD, 94, a resident of Clinton, MS passed away on Monday, January 29, 2018, at MS Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, MS. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, February 9, 2018, at First Presbyterian in Jackson, MS. Visitation will be held 5-7 pm Thursday, February 8, 2018, at the church. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS.
Paul was a native of Southside, West Virginia. He was the son of George William Long and Leonora Kennerly Brown Long. He was married to Merry Elizabeth Dalton Long. Paul was a missionary, church planter, WWII veteran, mission’s professor, cowboy and avid fisherman, but the defining feature of his life was an unwavering commitment to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Paul and his wife Merry served for 30 years as missionaries in Congo and Brazil. He is survived and deeply missed by his 5 children, their spouses, and a beautiful tribe of 21 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. Paul died reciting Scripture from memory, confident of his resurrection hope in Jesus.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Reformed Theological Seminary for the Paul and Merry Long Scholarship Fund.
