Dr. Robert Carl Duhs, age 85, of Brandon, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 8, 2010. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, September 12, 2010 at Lakeland Presbyterian Church, Flowood, Mississippi. The family will receive friends at Ott and Lee Funeral Home, 1360 West Government Street, Brandon, MS from 3:00 to 6:00 pm on Saturday, September 11, 2010.

Dr. Duhs was born in Peoria, Illinois on November 21, 1924. During World War II, he served three years in the United States Navy. He is a graduate of Bradley University, Fuller Theological Seminary, and has an honorary degree from Defenders National Seminary. He served pastorates at First Presbyterian Church in Tacoma, Washington; Westminster Presbyterian Church in Vicksburg, Mississippi; First Presbyterian Church in Biloxi, Mississippi; Lejeune Presbyterian Church in Coral Gables, Florida and Brandon Presbyterian Church in Brandon, Mississippi where he retired in 1991. Since his retirement he has served as an interim pastor for eleven churches in Mississippi.

Dr. Duhs also preached God’s Word through a long running television program on WLBT. His weekly radio broadcast, The Bible Speaks, aired for twenty years. He led many revival meetings in Mississippi towns. Dr. Duhs is the author of five books and articles from his pen have appeared in numerous Christian publications.

Dr. Duhs is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary Alice; four children, Michael Duhs (Robin) of Houston, Texas, Deborah Griffith (Gary) of Euless, Texas, Becky Chaplin (Carl) of Riga, Latvia and Lindsey Duhs (Kim) of Brandon, Mississippi. He and Mary Alice were blessed with seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He has one brother, William Duhs of Marvel, Colorado. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Marie Duhs and brother James Duhs.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to the Duhs-Lindsey Scholarship Fund c/o Mission to the World, P. O. Box 116284, Atlanta, GA 30368-6284 which provides financial aid for seminary students at the Baltic Reformed Theological Seminary or Reformed University Ministries, P. O Box 4937, Jackson, MS 39296.
