Dr. Robert Sidney Tarver, 64, passed away on Tuesday, September 6, 2016, at his home. Visitation will be 5-8pm Friday, September 9, 2016, at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon. Services will be 1pm Saturday, September 10, 2016 in the chapel of the funeral home with visitation starting at 12 Noon.

Bob will be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, where he hopes to see all that he knew and loved. Bob was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, son and compassionate doctor. He loved his life as a surgeon and physician helping others.

Bob was born in Memphis, TN, traveled with his family around the world as his father was a career army officer. He went to the University of Tennessee where he was a member and president of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity, and a member of the honor fraternity. He graduated with honors and a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology. He then attended the University of Mississippi Medical School. A residency in General Surgery was completed, followed by a teaching appointment in the Department of Surgery at the Veteran’s Hospital in Jackson.

Bob left academics and began a career of General and Vascular Surgery in Jackson. He loved his surgical career and excelled in minimally invasive surgery.

Bob loved the outdoors and the wonder of nature. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. While shooting was his passion, he was a good steward of his land. He also enjoyed his dogs.

Survivors include his lovely and loving wife, Patti; his step children, Anthony Reape (Sunny) of Brandon, MS and Jennifer Piper (Steve) of Houston, TX; grandchildren, Mark Reape, Ayden Reape, Keegan Piper and Colin Piper. He had an older sister, Bess Burgess in Walls, MS and a younger brother, Tom Tarver in New Hampshire.

Memorials may be sent to MS Wildlife Federation or the Mustard Seed.
