Dr. William Blair

Dr. William Dodd Blair, 76, a resident of Brandon, MS passed away Friday, June 21, 2019 at home surrounded by his immediate family. A visitation will be held from 2:00-4:00PM Saturday, June 29, 2019 at Ott and Lee Funeral Home, Brandon, MS. There will be a private family service later in South Carolina to spread his ashes on the family's farm.

Dr. Blair was born on July 22, 1942 in Sharon, SC to William Christopher Blair and Minnie Dodd Blair. He was married to Sharon Webb Blair. Dr. Blair earned a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and Ph.D. in Electrical/Biomedical Engineering from Clemson University. He has held academic appointments at the University of AL in Birmingham (Obstetrics and Gynecology & Engineering), Mississippi State University (Biological Engineering & Electrical Engineering), and The University of Mississippi (Director, Jackson Engineering Graduate Program). He was a member of Pinelake Baptist Church in Brandon, MS. He loved his family very much and spending time with them brought great joy to his life. He will be missed by all who loved and knew him.

He was preceded in death by his father, William Christopher Blair and his mother, Minnie Dodd Blair.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Sharon Blair; children: Brooke Blair Waltman (Gary) of Athens, AL, Bridget Blair Baldwin of Brandon, MS, and William Bradley Blair (Keri) of Collierville, TN; sister Patsy Blair Parks (Jim) of Newberry, SC; brother James Carroll Blair (Judy) of Sharon, SC; grandchildren: Blair Waltman, Haley Grace Waltman, Annsley Waltman, Abbey Baldwin, Kate Douglas Baldwin, and Aubrey Blair; several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
