He made many close friends in Mississippi and the surrounding states through his hobby. He was especially helpful to youngsters becoming involved in numismatics. Dusty was known to love a good joke and good food. He was a great cook and loved sharing, especially his Mexican cornbread and his salad dressing. He also loved animal and never forgot his deceased dogs, Pepper and Sugar, and cats, Silky, Purrcy and Rocky.
He met his wife, Beverly, in 1956 and asked her to marry him on the day they met. It was love at first sight. After their college days they married June 4, 1960. One of his happiest memories was the fiftieth anniversary celebration hosted by his family in 2010.
