Mr. Dwight Moody Jordan, age 78, a resident of Pelahatchie passed away on Monday, April 22, 2013 at V.A. Medical Center in Jackson, MS. Visitation was held 5-7pm Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton. Funeral service will be 10am Wednesday, April, 24, 2013 at the Ott & Lee Chapel in Morton with Graveside and burial at 3pm at Tangipahoa Baptist Cemetery in Summit, MS (Amite County). Rev. Tal Vardaman and Rev. Scott Walters will officiate the services. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton.
Mr. Jordan was born in Franklin County in 1934. He was a Wahabi Shriner and member of a Masonic Lodge in OK. He was a proud Veteran of the U.S. Air Force and was stationed at Lackland Air Force Base.
He had a passion for anything that flew, which included planes, being a charter pilot, airplane mechanic and instructor. Dwight also enjoyed wood working and talking on his ham radio. He will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.
He is preceded in death by parents, Albert Maxie Jordan and Ruby McMorris Jordan; 4 sisters, Maxine Kessler, Opal Futch, Estelle Freeman and Gladys Coward; 3 brothers, Felton Jordan, Talmadge Jordan, and Wallace Ray Jordan.
He is survived by his spouse of 60 years, Martha Jordan of Pelahatchie; 4 children, Carl Jordan (Virginia) of Robertsdale, AL, Jack Jordan (Pattie) of Pelahatchie, Sylvia Wingo (Floyd) of South America and Wayne Jordan (Vickie) of Morton; sisters, Iola Coward of McCall Creek and Jeannette Bailey of Bogue Chitto; brothers, Rodney and Joe Van Jordan of Smithdale; 15 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
