Visitation: 5-8pm Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS and starting at 10am on Wednesday followed by the 11am Service in the chapel. Interment will be in Brandon Memorial Gardens.


Mr. Earl L. Humphrey Jr., age 86, of Yulee, FL former longtime resident of Brandon, MS, passed
away on Saturday morning, August 2, 2014 at the Baptist Medical Center in Jacksonville, FL.
Born in Sangerville, ME, he was the only child born to the late Earl Lester and Kathleen Stoddard
Humphrey. He grew up in Sangerville where he graduated from Sangerville High School. After
high school he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served four years during WW II. After being honorably discharged he enrolled at Duke University where he graduated with a Bachelor
Degree in Business Administration and Economics in 1950.

While at Duke, he was a member of Phi Kappa Psi and the V-5 R.O.T.C. group. Upon graduation he began working with International Harvester. In 1970, he married a Tennessee native Octavia Runions.
As Mr. Humphrey excelled in the Sales Department of International Harvester, he wasmoved to various locales in the South to include North Carolina, Atlanta, GA, and Jackson, MS.While working in Jackson, he and his family lived in Brandon. Mr. Humphrey retired fromIH as Sales Manager in 1980. After a successful career in the Farming Equipment Industry, he worked in the medical field representing manufacturers of nursing home and hospital furnishings While living in Brandon, he and his wife were very active members of the Park Place Baptist Church. Mr. Humphrey's wife passed away on October 4, 2001.

In 2003, Mr. Humphrey moved to Yulee in North Florida to be near his son. After retiring, Mr. Humphrey spent many happy hours on the golf course; scoring two holes in one in Maine and Mississippi. After moving to Yulee, Mr. Humphrey became a member of Amelia Baptist Church in Fernandina Beach, FL.He was a member of the Abner Wade Masonic Lodge in Bangor, ME the Scottish / York Rite Bodies, the Shrine Temple of Atlanta and had been recognized as a 50 year Mason.

Mr. Humphrey leaves behind his son, Jeffrey Humphrey and his wife Diane of Yulee, FL,
and two grandsons, Adam Humphrey, Fernandina Beach, FL and Cody Humphrey,married to Victoria of Kingsland, GA.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 on Wednesday, August 6, 2014 in the Chapel of Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS with Dr. Keith Grubbs officiating. Mr. Humphrey will be laid to rest beside his wife in Brandon Memorial Gardens.His family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5:00 - 8:00 pm and Wednesday morning from 10:00 am until the hour of service at the Lee and Ott Funeral Home, Brandon, MS.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Park Place Baptist Church in Brandon, MS or to Amelia Baptist Church, Fernandina Beach, FL.
