EARNEST TONY OWENS
MORTON
Mr. Earnest T. (Tony) Owens, age 80, passed away on Thursday, April 14, 2011 at Lackey Memorial Hospital in Forest. Visitation was held 4-7pm Saturday, April 16, 2011 from the Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton and on Sunday, April 17, 2011 from 8:30am-1:15pm. Funeral services were held 2pm Sunday, April 17, 2011 from the Mt. Olive Primitive Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Dr. Kevin Cooper and Bro. Randy Rigney officiated the services. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton.
Mr. Owens was born and lived in Scott County all his life. He was a retired logger and loved to fish and hunt. Tony was proud to serve in the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War. Mr. Owens was the last surviving member of Mt. Olive Primitive Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He deeply loved his family and will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Annie Rae Owens; parents, Thad and Katie Owens and brother, Bud Owens.
He is survived by one son, Tony Eugene Owens (Suzanne) of Morton; one daughter, Geraldine Owens Kyzar of Morton; brother, W.L. “Leo” Owens; sister, Louise Sessums of Morton; 5 grandchildren, Ricky Lynn Kyzar (Wanda), Aaron T. Kyzar (LeAnn), Shay Owens, Chris Coley and Curtis Moore; 8 great grandchildren, Ariel, Madison, Ricky Alacia and Katie Kyzar, Georgia and Mason Puckett and Kywan Coley and a host of friends.
Pallbearers were Todd Cooper, Scott McMillian, Aaron Kyzar, Ricky L. Kyzar, Buford Palmer and Buddy Easterling. Honorary pallbearers were Willie Toney and Jimmy Lane Cooper.
