Edgar Johnston

Edgar L. Johnston, age 72, a resident of Morton died Thursday September 6, 2018 at the GV  "Sonny" Montgomery VA  Nursing  Center in Jackson, MS following an extended illness.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10am  Tuesday  September  11, 2018 from the Parkway Baptist Church in Morton with military rites  to follow in the church cemetery.  Rev. Gary Wyatt will officiate.   Visitation will be held from 5pm to 8pm Monday September 10, 2018 at  OTT & LEE  FUNERAL HOME  in Morton.

Mr. Johnston was born on Tuesday  November 13,  1945 in Brookhaven, MS to Clifton and Estelle Travis Johnston.  He was a member of North Morton Baptist Church.   He served his country in the Army National Guard and the U.S. Army where he served as a chef.   He had retired from the Scott Regional as a chef.  He was a quiet, gentle and loving  father, grandfather and friend to all who knew him. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include  five children; Clifton Johnston (Sarah) of Morton,  Jacqueline Ashby of Meridian, James David "Jim" Ashby  also of Meridian, Jamie Lynn Hopkins (David) of Pearl and Christopher  Ryan Ashby of Wausau, WI. a brother Edward Lamar Johnston (Sandra) of Pearl and sister Gloria Faye Burkes of Svannah, TN  He also leaves a legacy of twelve grandchildren, with one on the way.
