Edith Elaine Purvis Palmer, 86, went home to her Lord on September 8, 2017, after a courageous battle with Cancer. Edith was the youngest of 5 children of Ina Varner Purvis and Stanley Purvis. Visitation will begin 9:30am on Monday, September 11, 2017, at Antioch Baptist Church until the 11am service. Interment will follow in Antioch Cemetery.
Edith always had a passion for people and had many lifelong friends from her days at Cross Road School and the Antioch community. She never met a stranger and always found a connection with new acquaintances.
Her passion for making friends was only surpassed by her love for the Lord and all the members of Antioch Baptist Church. She also cherished her family and was very grateful that her time on earth was long enough to love her great grandchildren.
Edith and Ronald also loved to travel which included a wonderful trip to Germany. Edith loved music and was an accomplished pianist playing with several quartets.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Madie Everitt, Marie Allen and Beatrice Huff and her brother, Nelson Purvis.
Edith is survived by her husband of 68 years, Ronald; son, Stan (Lorie) Palmer; daughter, Jan (Glynn) Slade; grandsons, Justin (Alison) Palmer and Ty (Beth Ann) Palmer; great grandsons, Jax, Kade and Benton Palmer; 4 step grandchildren, and 9 step great grandchildren.
