Edith Webster Woods, 84, on October 11, 2012, at her residence left behind her earthly body and is now walking and talking with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Visitation is 5-7 pm Friday and 12 noon Saturday at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon. Services are 1:30 pm Saturday at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon with burial in Lakewood Memorial Park. Dr. Keith Grubbs will be officiating.
She was born and reared in Yazoo County and graduated from Yazoo City High School. Edith and her mother moved to Jackson in 1953. Then, she moved to Rankin county in 1987.
She worked for Zurich Insurance Company and retired as a transcriber from Kemper Insurance.
She was a faithful member of Parkway Baptist Church for 36 years. Since 1994, she was a member of Park Place Baptist Church and was active in the Joy Sunday school class.
Her children were the joy of her life, and they loved their mother dearly. She delighted in her flowers, adored her toy poodles (Heidi and Princess), enjoyed reading and was passionate in her beliefs. Over the dozen years prior to her stroke in 2010, she got to see the beauty of God’s creation as she traveled to and spent the night in 43 states.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Paul S. Woods, her son, Alex P. Woods, and daughter, Debbie R. Woods, all of Brandon; sister, Vera Kent (Thomas) of Sandy Springs, GA, and several nieces, nephews and many first cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Lottie Webster, and her brother, Carl E. Webster.
Her caregiver, Bertha Perry, lovingly cared for her, and the family is deeply grateful to have had her on their team.
