Edna Oakley Bonie Bounds, 89, passed away on Monday, December 31, 2012 at Brandon Nursing Home. Visitation will be 10am Saturday, January 5, 2013 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon until the 11am Service in the chapel. Interment will be in Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Pearl.
Mrs. Bounds was born in Clarke County on February 21, 1923 to the late Harvey Judson and Ester Matheney Oakley and was the fifth of six children. She grew up in central MS as her father was a Methodist Circuit Preacher. Edna worked as a waitress at several restaurants in Jackson, including Crechale’s . She was an accomplished sculptress. Edna was a member of Southside Assembly of God and she loved her Lord and loved to sing.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Gene Henry Bonie, Sr. and Kenneth Bounds; 2 sisters, Thelma Hearn and Gwen Rivers; 3 brothers, Samuel, George and Marvin Oakley. Survivors include 4 children, Barbara Blough of Brandon, Robert Bonie of Jackson, MS, Gene Henry Bonie, Jr. (Laurie) of Cooper City, FL and Rebecca Suzanne Litman (Neal) Miami Beach, FL; 5 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
