Edna K. Lodes, 89 passed away peacefully, Wednesday, September 22, 2010, at Brandon Court Nursing Home with family members at her side.

Edna was a native of New Holstein, Wisconsin, born April 17, 1921, She was the blonde hair, blue eyed daughter of Anton and Anna Klapperich. She graduated from New Holstein High School in 1939. As a young girl her bird-legs gained her the nickname “Club Sticks”. She was a long-time member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church. In 1942 she married William M. Lodes. The family lived on and ran a dairy farm for 26 years. Tiring of the farm life in 1956, Edna procured a job at the Altona Supper Club. Whitney (Whitey) Wright, the owner, saw Edna’s potential. She went through the ranks, from dishwasher, waitress and banquet manager. Edna’s charming and friendly personality (it didn’t hurt a thing that she was very attractive) took her quickly to the top. Edna’s gift for gab, as she said “I love to snutter”, was one of her primary ingredients for success. She purchased the Supper Club in 1968 and enjoyed running it for 3 years. She sold the business and the Altona is still in operation today.

In 1984 she moved to Brandon, MS to be near family. Shortly after her move, she located a warm and friendly church family at St. Jude Catholic Church in Pearl, MS. It was instant love the first time she heard Father Martin Ruane deliver his message. When the church changed priest to Father Gerard Hurley and now Father Lenin Vargas, her commitment to the church continued. As the aging process took its toll, she was unable to attend but her heart will always be there.

Edna is preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Raymond, Emil and Richard Klapperich and one sister, Margaret Gleason. She is survived by her sons, William A. Lodes, daughter-in-law, Nancy of Lakewood, WI and Robert R. (Bob) Lodes, daughter-in-law, Anne Marie of Brandon, MS; daughter, Judith Ann Lodes of Toledo, OH and adopted daughter, Doris Beil Vogel, husband Bob, of Coto DeCoza, CA. She has seven grandchildren, two step grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, nine step great-grandchildren, and five great-great grandchildren.

The family would like to take this opportunity to thank the Brandon Court staff for their love, tenderness and kindness to Edna. You all are very special people to do all the things you do and to do them with such genuine love.
