Mrs. Edna Lou Purvis, age 98, passed away Monday, March 22, 2021 in Perkinston, Mississippi. Formerly of Scott County, Mrs. Edna was born on November 27, 1922 to John Thomas and Lenora Diggs Warren in Pulaski, Mississippi.
Over the years, Mrs. Edna worked as a custodian with the school system and as a salesclerk. She especially enjoyed her time as an “adopted grandmother” for patients at the Hudspeth Center in Whitfield. Throughout her life, she had a hobby for sewing and doing word puzzles, but her greatest joy was the love she had for her family. She was lovingly known as “Edner” by her family and close friends, who all loved her very much too.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Ralph Nute Purvis. She is also preceded in death by her siblings, Thomas Tillman Warren, William Marbo Warren, James Solomon Warren, Horace Edward Warren, Wesley Franklin Warren, Ora Bell Wicker and Edriss Lenora Ray.
She is survived by two siblings, Vernon Warren and Virgie Lee Ward, her children, Nora Waddel, Faye Jackson and Keith Purvis and their spouses, seven grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and eleven great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Saturday, March 27 from 9:00 am to 10:30 am at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton, Mississippi. Graveside service will be at 11:00 am at the Warren Family Cemetery in Pulaski, Mississippi.
In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to The Edna Purvis Fund at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. Donations made be made online on their website or mailed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital/ALSAC, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38015. Please reference The Edna Purvis Fund in your donation.
