Edna Leah Smith, age 85, a resident of Morton passed away on Thursday, February 13, 2014 at University Medical Center in Jackson. Visitation was held 5-8pm Friday, February 14, 2014 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton. Funeral service was held 2pm Saturday, February 15, 2014 at the Ott & Lee Chapel in Morton with burial in Morton City Cemetery. Rev. Creighton White and Rev. Zach Kilpatrick officiated the services. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton.
Edna was born in Scott County in 1928. Her family laughed and said, “If there is gas in the car she was always ready to go.” Edna loved going places and loved her family very much and will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Earl Harvey and Mildred Nutt Harvey; 1st husband, Arnold Mooney, 2nd husband, Cliff Allen and 3rd husband, Buford Smith and step daughter, Rachel Jones.
She is survived by 4 children, Betty Jean Thorne and husband, Rayford of Morton, Bobby Allen of Jackson, Glen Smith and wife, Suzanne of Little Rock, AR and Yvonne Stone of Lake; 3 sisters, Effie Williams of Morton, Dorothy Patrick of Pearl and Earline Clark (Joe) of Pass Christian; 8 grandchildren; numerous great and great-great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Pallbearers were Bryan Tagert, Joey Tagert, Tyler Thorne, Justin Allen, Matt Warren and Reggie Thorne.
