November 15, 1933 — June 22, 2017

Edward James McDill, 83, a resident of Brandon, MS passed away Thursday, June 22, 2017 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland, MS. Funeral services will be held 2 pm Saturday, June 24, 2017 at First Baptist Church chapel in Jackson, MS with the interment in the Crestview Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 5-7 pm Friday, June 23, 2017 at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS and from 1-2 pm Saturday at the church. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS.

Mr. McDill was a native of Conehatta, MS. He is the son of Oliver Preston McDill and Mary Alline Turner McDill. He was married to Billie Johnson McDill. Mr. McDill worked for Presto Manufacturing many years before retiring. He served his country in the United States Army. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Jackson, MS where he served as a longtime deacon, Sunday school teacher and greeter. He will be remembered by his family as a principled man of faith who had a love of family. Mr. McDill enjoyed the outdoors and spending time on the family farm. He will be missed by all who loved and knew him.

Mr. McDill was preceded in death by his parents, Oliver Preston McDill and Mary Alline Turner McDill; wife, Billie Johnson McDill; daughter, Cynthia McDill Fetzer; sister, Patsy Thomas and brother, Glenn McDill.

Mr. McDill is survived by his sons, Phillip (Carol) McDill of Brandon, Daniel E. McDill of Brandon and David J. McDill of Houston, TX, and son-in-law, Thomas Calvin Fetzer, Jr.; sisters, Virginia (Sammy) Nicholson of Brandon, Hazel (Pace) Guthrie of Forest, Jo Ree Baker of Brandon and Frances Gray of Brandon; brother, Frank (Alice) McDill of Birmingham, AL; six grandchildren, Stephen McDill, Joshua (Kelsey) McDill, Brad (Carrie) McDill, Emily (Brian) Jackson, Lindsey (Sidney) Courtney and Trey Fetzer; 5 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
