Edward Earl McCaughn, age 63, a resident of Pulaski, passed away on Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at the University Medical Center in Jackson. Visitation was held 5-9pm Friday, December 6, 2013 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton. Funeral service was held 10am Saturday, December 7, 2013 at the Ott & Lee Chapel in Morton with burial in Independence United Methodist Cemetery. Rev. Mickey Walls officiated the services. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton.

Edward was born in Scott County on June 27, 1950. He graduated Morton High School and Hinds Community College. He served with the Ms. Air National Guard 172nd and was a 3rd Degree Mason with the Morton Lodge. Edward was a cattle farmer and also employed with Ms. Care Center in Morton. He was a member of Forest United Methodist Church but loved and supported Pulaski Baptist Church. He enjoyed Biblical Archaeology, always reading and digging deeper. It was his passion along with being outdoors stocking his fish ponds and helping his son and best buddy, Lance.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Alfred Edward McCaughn and Virgie Josephine Phillips McCaughn.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Brenda Martin McCaughn; sons, Lance McCaughn of Morton, Frank McCaughn of Pulaski and Paul McCaughn (Charlene) of Carthage; brothers, Wendell McCaughn (Brenda) of Morton and Frankie McCaughn (Lawanda) of Morton; 3 grandchildren, Corey, Jasmine and Dakota McCaughn; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Pallbearers were Grady Carl Boozer, Dalton Scales, Dwayne Derrick, Garry Pace, Richard McCaughn and David Harvey. Honorary pallbearers were the 11pm-7am shift at Ms. Care Center.

Memorials may be made to Independence United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund or Gideons International.
