Edwin (Ed) T. Manney went to his heavenly home on March 4, 2024.
He was born on October 4, 1938, to Edwin Garland Manney and Susie Pairett Manney of Meridian, Mississippi.
He was married to the love of his life, Claire Randall Manney, for 57 years.
Mr. Manney was a member of Crossgates Baptist Church in Brandon, MS, and loved his life group family.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Claire Randall Manney of Pearl; son, William (Paul) Manney of Winona, MS; brother, Joe S. Manney of Gulfport, MS; and granddaughter, Evalyne Chastin Nichols.
He is survived by his daughter, Lyne Nichols (Howard) of Pearl; his grandchildren, Trey Nichols (Lindsey), and Shelby Lyne Moore (Daniel); five great grandchildren that he adored, Brayden and Ledger Nichols, Ellie Mayfield, Rylee Moore and Hannah Moore; sister, Billie Searcy Crockett of Gulfport, MS; nephew, Janes Deane (Myra) and great nephew, Dylan; niece, Sherry Lizana (Greg) and great nephew, Kevin.
Mr. Manney had been a resident of Pearl since 1972. He had been a sheet metal worker most of his life and in 1983 began working in security for Baptist Hospital. He retired from Millsaps College in the security department. He was a long-time member of Southside Assembly of God, where he was a Royal Ranger Commander for 25 years. He dedicated much of his time to equipping his outpost and instilling and being a living witness of Christlike character. He was always available to tell of the Savior’s love.
He loved to talk about the truths of the Bible with anyone that would listen, and he lived his life with genuine humility and tremendous faith and passed that down to his children and grandchildren. No one entered his room without him asking if they knew Jesus. This was his life’s testimony. He knew that without Jesus, we are nothing and that God took human wisdom and made it look foolish and used the weakest of people to show God’s power and strength. 1 Corinthians 1.
Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints. Psalm 115:16
