Born Sept. 7, 1927 in Scott County, went to his heavenly home on Sept. 7, 2015. He served in the Navy from June 1945 to June 1946 and retired from the Air Force after 21 years of service. Also retired from Vickers Corporation after 15 years and moved back to his childhood home of Forest, MS. He was a Master Mason at the Grand Lodge of MS F&A.M. Preceded in death by his mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. T.L. Matthews, brothers, Melvin and Rufus and sister, Lucille Sessums and infant Margaret Matthews. Survived by his wife Martha Matthews, son, Brad Matthews, and daughter Pam Matthews. He was a member of the Forest Baptist Church and L. O. Atkins Sunday School Class. Memorials may be made to Forest Baptist Church. Visitation will be at Ott & Lee Funeral Home, Wednesday, Sept. 9th from 1:00pm to 2:00pm followed by a brief burial ceremony at Ephesus Cemetery.
