Moss, 96, passed away on Thursday, December 11, 2014, at Peach Tree Village. Visitation will be 12 Noon until 2pm Monday, December 15, 2014, at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon. Services will follow at 2pm in the chapel, with interment in Lakewood Memorial Park in Jackson. Rev. John Defoore will officiate. Mr. Moss was born in Ackerman, MS on August 5, 1918 to Oscar and Ola Oswalt Moss. He married Anna Miller on July 22, 1941. Mr. Moss served in WWII with the Cannon Company 155th Infantry 31st Dixie Division in the Philippines and New Guinea, Moratai (Netherlands East Indies) as Master Sargent receiving a Bronze Star. Mr. Moss started with Mississippi Power and Light (Entergy) as a lineman and retired as a District Engineer in 1983 after 36 years of service.
Survivors include his daughter, Linda Moss Dukes (Larry) of Brandon, MS; son, John Edwin Moss (Teeta) of St. Francisville, LA; 7 grandchildren, Kerry Dukes, Kasey Dorr (Ross), Renee Fontenot, J.G. Moss, Morgan Moss, Sabrina Perkins and Stephen Stroment ; 7 great grandchildren, Logan Fontenot, Cameron Fontenot, McLaine Dorr, Emerson Dorr, Noah Dukes, Haley Perkins and Belinda Perkins. He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Miller Moss in 2007; daughter, Patricia M. Howse; sisters, Gurvis Bingham and Pauline Wood.
The family would like to say many thanks for the care and compassion Mr. Moss received at Peachtree Village, Wisteria Gardens and to his sitters Tommie Hartley, Regina Collier, Patrick Collier and Janet Collier. A very special thanks goes to Maria Valera for all her loving care received at Peachtree Village for the past 7 years.
