Elaine Jarmon, 98, passed away Friday, February 5, 2016 at her home in Brandon, MS. Visitation will be held on Monday, February 8, 2016 from 12pm-1:45pm at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS. Funeral Services are 2pm on Monday February 8, 2016 at the Ott & Lee Funeral Home Chapel in Brandon, MS with burial to follow in the Crestview Memorial Gardens in Brandon, MS.

Elaine was born on November 22, 1917 in Union Parish, Marion, LA. She attended Texas Women University, Louisiana State University receiving a degree of Bachelors of Art, Peabody College where she received her Master’s Degree and did graduate work at University of Arkansas. Elaine began her career as a high school teacher in Marion, LA. She eventually moved to Lake Charles, LA where she taught English at McNeese State University for 41 years.

Traveling around the world with her sister and brother-in-law was a highlight of her life. Elaine cherished spending time with family. Therefore, in 2003, she decided to move to Brandon, MS to be closer to her niece, Stephanie Daniels and her family.

She is survived by her nieces and nephew, Stephanie Daniels (Noel) of Brandon, MS, Mark Donnell (Brenda) of Jefferson City, Missouri, Carol Wedeberg (Jim) of Shreveport, LA, and David Lankford (Barbara) of Baton Rouge, LA. Elaine loved being close to her great nieces and great nephews whom she considered as her grandchildren, Amy Courtney (Michael) of Jackson, MS, Allison Ott (Karl) of McComb, MS, Annette Phillips (Aaron) of Virginia, David Wedeberg (Allison) of Dallas, TX, Andrew Wedeberg (Bethia) of Shreveport, LA, and Brad Wedeberg (Lee) of Dallas, TX, and her great-great nieces, and nephews, Daniel and Caroline Courtney of Jackson, MS, Emmy and Clay Ott of McComb, MS, Audrey and A. J. Phillips of Virginia, Lucy and Anna Wedeberg of Dallas, TX, Drew, Mac, and Ford Wedeberg of Shreveport, LA, and William, King, and Marion Wedeberg of Dallas, TX. In her final years, she had wonderful caretakers whom she loved including Fannie Haslett, Shirley Leach, Vonda Wells, and Stella Thurman. Elaine is preceded in death by her parents, L. J. and Cora Jarmon; two sisters, Nelwyn Donnell, and Olalee Lankford, and two brothers-in-law, Charles Donnell, and K. D. Lankford.
