Elbert Earl Haley

February 14, 1952 — January 29, 2015

Elbert E. “Pete” Haley, Jr. born February 14, 1952 (and yes, for the last time, it was on Valentine’s Day) drifted off this mortal coil on January 29, 2015. His spirit was released from his worn out shell of a body and is now exploring the universe and engaging in pursuits previously denied to him.

Visitation will be Monday, February 2, 2015 from 5 until 8 pm and again on Tuesday, February 3, 2015 from 10 am until the ll am Service in the Chapel at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon.

Pete was born in Natchez, Mississippi to the late Elbert Earl and Sarah Tillmon Haley. He was a graduate of Natchez Adams High School. He was a graduate of Millsaps College and the University of Mississippi where he was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity. He also graduated from Mississippi College School of Law, formerly the Jackson School of Law. He was a member of the Rankin County Bar Association and the Mississippi Bar Association. He was a writer and member of Poets Anonymous. He served in the U. S. Navy. His Law Office has been in Brandon since 2001.

He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Sharon M. Haley; a son, Steven B. Haley; and a grandson, William Bradford Haley.

He catalogs his health history and dubious education by stating that he (1) had health and (2) had a dubious education.

Funeral arrangements will take place at the family’s convenience and notification, if needed, will be disseminated. Everyone who remembers him is asked to celebrate his life in their own way, raising a glass of their favorite libation in his memory, instead of flowers.

Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army, 1450 Riverside Dr., Jackson, MS 39202.
