Elec Jimmie Jennings, age 55, a resident of Forest died Sunday, November 27, 2016, at the Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11am Saturday, December 3, 2016, from the chapel of the Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Forest with interment to follow in the Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery near Lake. Pastor Terrell Allen will officiate. Visitation will be held from 5pm to 8pm on Thursday, December 1, 2016 and again from 9am-10:30am Saturday December 3rd prior to the service at Ott & Lee Funeral Home.
Mr. Jennings was born on Monday January 4, 1961 to his parents; Alex Jennings and Hattie Shanklin Jennings in Humphreys County. After moving to Forest and finishing high school, he served in the Army. He had worked in the Scott County Schools as a Custodian for many years. He was well known by the faculty, administration and students as friendly and courteous. In his spare time he enjoyed watching sports, television and reading newspapers, especially when friends or relatives would take trips to other places, he would always say, “Now bring me back a newspaper, please.” He will certainly be missed by his family and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his father: Alex Jennings and a brother; T.W. Washington.
Survivors include his mother; Hattie S. Jennings; fiance’ Elizabeth Williams and two sons Sa-hara Williams and Daniel Louis, five sisters; Gloria Ann Terry (Robert) of Forest, Gloria Jean Jennings also of Forest, Eveline May (Michael) of Jackson, Hattie Pearl Jennings (Terry Carson) of Carthage, Maggie Jennings of Dallas, TX., four brothers ; Barah Lee Jennings (Thelma) of Forest, Larry Jennings of Forest, Randy Lee Jennings (Betty) of Forest and Darren Jennings (Nicole) of Killen TX.
Pallbearers are David Tadlock, James Byron Anderson, Christopher Bobbitt, Odis Mitchell, Percy Johnson and Ronnie Shephard.
