Elery “Mac” Shelton McGriff Morton Elery “Mac” Shelton McGriff, age 82, a resident of Morton passed away on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at Mississippi Care Center in Morton. Visitation was held 4-9pm Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton. Services were held 11am Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at the Ott & Lee Chapel in Morton with burial in Morton Church of God Cemetery. Bro. Brian Lewis officated the services. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton. Mr. McGriff was born in Sunrise, MS on March 9, 1934. He loved sitting outside his home and selling things to people passing by. Mac loved people and could talk for hours with them. He loved riding around with his son, John. Mac loved to go to different cemeteries and look at old graves and read the monuments. He loved his family very much and will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him. He is preceded in death by his parents, Barney Elery McGriff and Cora Mae Smith McGriff; wife, Jimmie Ruth Bell McGriff; brother, Lee Matthew McGriff; great great grandson, Dallon Hunt Jones and son-in-law, Hershell Morgan. He is survived by his children, Melinda Morgan of Morton, Bobby McGriff (Jan) of Morton, John McGriff of Morton and Judith Champion (Terry) of Forkville; brother, James M. McGriff (Bonita) of Magee; 12 grandchildren, Shayne Jones (Judy), Veronica Jones, Cody Shedd (Maria), Jay Morgan, Michael Morgan (Candace), Chris Yarbrough (Haley), Scotty Yarbrough (Danielle), Ruby Johnson (Jay), John McGriff (Melanie), Ryan McGriff, Aaron Champion and Shownie Price (Jathan); 22 great grandchildren and a host of friends. Pallbearers will be John McGriff, Ryan McGriff, Jonathan McGriff, Brandon King, Chris Yarbrough and Aaron Champion. Honorary pallbearers will be Shayne Jones, Cody Shedd, Jacob McGriff, Jerry McGriff and James McGriff. Memorials may be made to the Gideons International. The family would like to say a big thank you to the staff at Mississippi Care Center of Morton for taking such good care of their loved one.
