Elizabeth Flippen Armstrong, age 88, a resident of Morton died Saturday March 16, 2013 at the Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, MS following a brief illness.

Funeral services were conducted at 11am Tuesday March 19, 2013 from the Morton United Methodist Church with interment in the Hickory Cemetery. Visitation was held from 5pm-8pm Monday March 18, 2013 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton. Rev. Gary Glazier officiated.

Mrs. Armstrong was born in McCarley, MS on December 5, 1924 to Homer W. Flippen and Lula Minyard Flippen. She was a 1947 graduate of MSCW now known as MUW. She retired from the State of Mississippi Dept. of Health & Human Services in 1987.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Armstrong in 2007. She was also preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.

Survivors include her three daughters, Ann A. Dickinson and husband L.L.,III of Birmingham, AL., Alice Staten and late husband James H. Staten of Hattiesburg, MS, and Martha A. House and husband B.B. of Madison, MS. She is also survived by a brother-in law, Harvey Anglin of Tupelo, MS. She is also survived by a legacy of five grandchildren, Thomas House, Benjamin House, Erica Feldmann (Paul), Suzanne Salter (Keith), Lee Dickinson, IV (Marti), six great-grandchildren, Jake Feldmann, Natalie Grace Feldmann, Sarah Nicole Feldmann, Ryan Salter, Reed Salter and Julianna Salter.

Pallbearers were Gregg Sessums, David Farris, Jimmy Farris, Glenn Harmon, William Fairchild, Greg Butler and Robert Nutt.

The family would like to thank the caring staff of the Mississippi Care Center and her special friend and neighbor Freda Meeks.
