Elizabeth Guy

November 30, 1959 — March 14, 2023

Pelahatchie, MS

Elizabeth Ann Guy, 62, of Pelahatchie, MS, passed away on March 13, 2023, at University of MS Medical Center in Jackson, MS.

Elizabeth, affectionately known as Liz, Nana, and Lizard by her friends and loved ones, was born in Canton, MS, on November 30,1959, to James Parker and Louise Huffman. Liz was a graduate of Pelahatchie High School. In her later years, Liz worked as a blackjack dealer for the gaming industry and recently was a secretary for Jerry’s Auto Sales in Forest, MS, before retiring.

Liz enjoyed fishing, cooking new recipes, taking care of her roses, and spending time with family and grandchildren. She, much like her father, loved to joke with people while making them smile and laugh. She will definitely be missed by all those who loved and knew her.

Liz urges each of us to do our best, to follow our dreams and make something amazing out of our lives.  "Oh, and never stop smiling.” As Emily Debrayda Phillip stated, “I was born; I blinked; and it was over.  It pains me to admit this, but apparently, I have passed away.  Everyone told me it would happen one day, but that’s simply not something I wanted to hear---much less experience.  Once again, I didn’t get things my way!  That’s been the story of my life.

“There will be no buildings named after me, and no monuments erected in my honor.  But I DID have the chance to know and love each and every friend as well as all my family members.  How much more blessed can a person be?”

As you look at the evening sunset or the roses blooming in the garden or the butterflies fluttering, think of me.  I will be there with you in one form or another.  Hopefully, this will bring comfort to some while aggravating others---since this is what I do best.

I’ll leave you with this.  Please don’t cry because I’m gone. Instead, be happy that I was here.  (Ok---you can cry a little bit.  After all, I have passed away).” Today I am happy, and I am dancing---probably naked. Love you forever.”

Liz is survived by her children, Christian Guy (Amanda) and Ginger Cruz (Sergio), as well as Christian and Ginger’s father Eddie Guy; her step-children Billy Coleman, Katina Jackson, and Johnny Guy; her grandchildren Kassie, Justin, Aiden, Gabriela and Mila; and several step-grandchildren. In addition, she is survived by her brother Waymon Parker (Lori) of Pelahatchie, her sister Sandra Harrell (David) of Forest, her brother Dennis Parker (Gena) of Pearl, her sister Michelle White (Rex) of Pelahatchie, and her sister Alyson Parker of Leesburg.

Liz is preceded in death by her parents, James and Frances Parker, and Louise and Clyde Huffman.
